What is Plant Health Care?

Plant Health Care (PHC) can be best described as the preventative, holistic, “cradle-to-grave” care of plants, trees and shrubs. Focus is on plants (trees included!) and their surrounding environment, rather than just the pests affecting health…Treating the cause, rather than just the symptom. PHC employs a variety of methods preventing plants from becoming sick, ensuring long-term vitality and providing a strong foundation for a thriving environment. Successful Plant Health Care balances people’s aspirations with the plant’s health, appearance and sustainability.

One prominent method of controlling plant pests is Integrated Pest Management (IPM). IPM is an ecosystem-based strategy using a combination of biological, cultural, mechanical, physical and/or chemical techniques to treat pests and contain any damage, to tolerable levels. The combined use of Plant Health Care and Integrated Pest Management utilizes proper ecological and preventative measures to control pests and mitigate considerable damage.
